Chi Zhang (b. 1988, Beijing, China) is a multidisciplinary visual artist, art educator, and art professional based between Beijing and New York. She holds an MFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts, New York (2013), and a BA in Studio Art from Stony Brook University (2010). Her work spans installation, painting, drawing, and the documentation of daily life, reflecting personal narratives shaped by diverse social contexts, including mental well-being, environmental concerns, and societal perceptions of beauty and aging. Rooted in the belief that art holds therapeutic power, Zhang’s art invites reflection on inner peace and human connection, offering a contemplative lens on contemporary life.
Over the years, Zhang’s experience with art’s therapeutic qualities has led her to explore themes of healing. Her recent projects, developed across cities around the world, gather and translate moments of peace and calm into visual form. Through these works, she creates space for reflection on well-being, inviting audiences to pause and rediscover balance in today’s complex world.
Zhang’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She has participated in artist residencies at Pantocrator Gallery (Shanghai, China), NARS Foundation (Brooklyn, New York, USA), SÍM Residency – The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists (Reykjavík, Iceland), GlogauAIR On-Site Residency Program (Berlin, Germany), and Studio Kura Artist Residency (Itoshima, Fukuoka, Japan).
In addition to art practice, Zhang has engaged in various art-related fields, independent art projects, etc. She is also an art educator with experience teaching students of all ages in a variety of studio, classroom, and museum settings, including programs for adults, young art professionals, and college and high school students.
